  • Weight gain – if you are overweight or obese, then the advice for you is to lose weight. When fatty tissues build up around your throat they can restrict the airflow. The best way to stop snoring if weight gain is a problem is to take regular walks around your neighbourhood in the evenings. If you can swim start now. Such little exercises can help you stop snoring.
  • Weak muscles – The older we get, the weaker our muscles become. Weak muscle in the throat area can restrict the size of the airway. This can make you snore. Though you cannot stop yourself from aging, you can certainly delay it. Doing a simple exercise such as stretching out your tongue as far as possible, many times, before retiring to sleep can help to tone up the weak muscles in your throat.
  • Smoking – It is now time to stop this habit. Smoking damages the linings in the airways. Once the linings are damaged, the tissues swell up and restrict the airflow. If you cannot stop smoking straightway, why not consider avoiding smoking in the evenings before you go to sleep?
  • Body posture – Position of our bodies when we sleep also determine whether we snore or not. Before you sleep in the night, put a pillow beneath your back, so that it props up your abdomen. This little trick will help to open your airways and also expand your lungs. When air flow almost without any restriction in the passage, you will snore less or not at all.
  • Watch what you drink at night – Drink a warm beverage (not coffee) – just before your bedtime. This trick works. Add a small amount of honey to warm water and drink it. The honey will coat the walls of your trachea (air passage) and it helps to stop snoring.
